A NEW GENERAL MANAGER AT THE CASTLE!
AccorHotels is pleased to announce the appointment of Geneviève Dumas, General Manager of the iconic Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa, ON. Dumas is a dynamic leader with over 25 years experience in the luxury hospitality and tourism industry.
In her most recent position as General Manager of the historic Fairmont Château Montebello, Dumas raised the hotel to new heights, seeing it recognized as the 3rd best hotel in Canada from Condé Nast Traveler magazine. She also successfully guided a massive renovation and restoration of the “world’s largest red cedar log cabin” ahead of its 90th anniversary.
In her new role, Dumas will oversee the Fairmont Château Laurier’s day to day operations and exceptional guest experience. “I am thrilled to take on the role of General Manager at Ottawa’s castle, as we move past the pandemic and welcome guests back to the Fairmont experience,” says Dumas. “I look forward to being part of the exceptional team that makes every stay in this majestic hotel memorable,” she adds.
Dumas career journey has taken her across the globe, to the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. She has held progressive leadership roles at the Fairmont Tremblant, Fairmont Empress, Hilton Homewood Suites and Marriott Residence Inn. She’s been recognized many times by her peers; among the 2021 Top 30 most influential people in the Industry in Quebec; as an Exceptional Woman of the Year by the local Chamber of Commerce in 2020; as a recipient of the Industry Performance Award from ESG UQAM’s School of Management in 2013; and as a 2011 Ambassador of the Year for the Hotel Industry by the Minister of Tourism, Quebec.
Dumas holds a Master’s in Business Administration from École des sciences de la gestion de l'UQAM. She currently teaches Advanced Studies in International Hotel Management at ITHQ. No stranger to winter sports and activities, she’s looking forward to winter in Ottawa and skating on the Rideau Canal.
