Job description

The main task of the night auditor is the verification of the commercial transactions done during the business day in order to balance the accounts and the deposit. At the same time, the auditor is also responsible for all front desk related task during the night shift: welcoming guests, proceeding to the guests’ check-ins and check-outs, respond to requests and coordinate the hotel activities throughout the night, take reservations, give information about the hotel and it’s services, provide information about the city and the touristic activities of the region, ensure proper communication between the departments. The night auditor must also handle first level complaints.

Availability and flexibility, rigour and team spirit are all prerequisites criteria for a night auditor. It is essential to have an acute sense of details and great relational skills for the contact with the clientele. Working alone or in a small team, the night auditor must show initiative and must be able to work under pressure.

The night auditor position requires to work weekend or holidays (can include day and/or evening shift for a part-time auditor). The work schedule can vary according to the occupancy level of the hotel and of the season.

Responsibilities:

- Complete all the accounting tasks of the night audit.

- Verify and correct the daily transactions, update and print the guest hotel bill.

- Sort the daily transactions and produce the daily reports.

- Balance the accounts and close the business day for the front desk and the bar.

- Produce the daily revenue report.

- Answer the phone and transfer calls.

- Take reservations and proceed to the check-ins and check-outs of guests.

- Deal with guests’ complaints.

- Respond promptly and efficiently to guests’ requests and requests from other departments (sales, front desk, banquets, maintenance, etc.).

- All other tasks related to the front desk.

Requirements

Competences and skills:

- Skills for guest service and sales.

- Skills to easily communicate orally or written.

- Must be tolerant to stress.

- Must have initiative.

- Sense of organisation and attention to details.

- Autonomy, dynamism, sociable, courtesy.

- Versatility, flexibility and adaptability.


Requirements (experience):

- Bilingual spoken and written (French and English). (Prerequisite)

- Must be able to work on changing schedules (availability Friday, Saturday and Sunday night). (Prerequisite)

- Knowledgeable with computer and new technologies. (Prerequisite)

- Previous experience as a night audtior is an asset.

- Basic accounting knowledge.

- Knowledgeable about the touristic attractions and aspect of Montreal.
