Job description
Reporting to the Guest service Manager, the Valet/Bell greets guests on arrival, assists with luggage, and manages parking procedures. Key duties include controlling hotel traffic, ensuring a clean and safe entrance, and parking, retrieving guest vehicles while recording license plates and matching names. You’ll handle stored bags, manage valet keys, deliver luggage, and provide room feature overviews. Responsibilities also include delivering mail and packages, and performing any other tasks as assigned. Ability to lift 30-50 pounds is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet guests on arrival, open doors and inform them of parking procedures.
- Help guests with luggage and special requests.
- Control incoming and outgoing hotel traffic.
- Ensure that the sidewalk and hotel entrance are clean and safe (especially in winter).
- Park and retrieve guest cars, record licence plate numbers, match guest's names and room numbers.
- Correctly identify stored bags and manage valet parking car key.
- Bring luggage to guest rooms and retrieve them when requested.
- Able to lift and carry 30-50 pounds.
- Provide guests with an overview of room features.
- Deliver mail; assist with receiving & delivering packages to guest rooms or to other departments.
- Perform any other tasks which are assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of one (1) year experience in a same or a similar position.
- A valid driver’s licence with a clean record (able to drive automatic and standard cars.
- Excellent customer service: Approachable, pleasant, courteous, empathetic, fast acting.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced team environment, managing various workloads.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and multitask.
- Effective knowledge of Ottawa, its tourist attractions, and its major intersections.
- Excellent oral and written skills in English, French is an asset.
