Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Housekeeping Supervisor assists the Director and Assistant Director of the department in supervising and managing all aspects of the hotel’s housekeeping operations, including guest rooms, public areas, laundry, back-of-house areas, and assigned staff. The role is responsible for ensuring smooth departmental operations while adhering to brand standards. Particular attention is given to safety, security, and the protection of property.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Respond courteously and appropriately to all guest requests.
  • Answer guest questions regarding hotel services.
  • Ensure optimal workforce management and cost control.
  • Assign daily workloads to room attendants.
  • Follow up on daily priorities with room attendants and housepersons.
  • Ensure adherence to the room maintenance program.
  • Ensure rooms are presented impeccably at all times.
  • Assist the Director in training staff on work techniques and cleaning products.
  • Enforce health and safety policies and procedures; immediately report and take action, when possible, on all health and safety hazards.
  • Inspect and monitor linens and bathroom towels.
  • Assist the Director with inventory management and control.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with the Front Desk to manage room priorities.
  • Clean guest rooms as needed at the Director’s request.
  • Inspect rooms after cleaning.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized linen room.
  • Assist the Director in managing lost and found items.
  • Supervise the maintenance of public areas.
  • Ensure compliance with and maintenance of the high customer service standards established by Holiday Inn.
  • Perform any other duties related to the position.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school or post-secondary diploma and 2 years of experience in housekeeping management or a related professional field;
    OR
  • Diploma from a recognized college or university in hotel management and 2 years of experience in housekeeping;
    AND
  • Experience in hospitality or a related field is an asset;
  • Housekeeping experience is required.

 

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency in spoken and written French and English.
  • Strong customer service and guest satisfaction skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Flexibility.
  • Professional attitude and behavior (teamwork skills, autonomy, dynamism, interpersonal skills, honesty, versatility, initiative, organizational skills, etc.).
  • Knowledge of customer needs.
  • Leadership and decision-making abilities / staff management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, demonstrate a strong sense of urgency, and manage priorities effectively.
  • Ability to occasionally lift 10–25 pounds and/or frequently carry, push, pull, or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
