Work Location : 1050 De La Gauchetière Street West, Montréal, QC H3B4C9

Employment Status : Permanent, full-time position

Schedule : Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
11:30 PM to 8:00 AM
Days off: Monday and Tuesday

Hourly Wage: $38.22 per hour

About the Hotel

Acquired by Tidan in 2018, the Marriott Château Champlain is ideally located in the heart of downtown Montréal. Just a one-minute walk from the metro, the hotel is accessible via an underground passage connected to the Bell Centre and the 1000 De La Gauchetière complex.

A true Montréal landmark, the hotel features 36 floors, 614 guest rooms, 13 suites, and 25 meeting rooms. Fully renovated in 2021, it can accommodate up to 1,000 guests. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Preventive Maintenance Attendant is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and overall maintenance of the property’s facilities. This key role ensures that all equipment, systems, and infrastructure operate efficiently to provide a safe, comfortable, and high-quality experience for our guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems and equipment, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, heating, and security systems.

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues and equipment malfunctions reported by guests or identified during routine inspections.

  • Carry out minor renovation work such as painting, wall repairs, and flooring installation.

  • Complete various building installation, modification, and repair tasks as required.

  • Monitor and maintain ventilation and air filtration systems to ensure optimal indoor air quality.

  • Manage maintenance requests and assigned tasks using the maintenance tracking system.

  • Coordinate with other hotel departments to minimize disruptions during maintenance work.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards, procedures, and applicable regulations.

  • Maintain an adequate inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies.

  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay up to date on new technologies and best maintenance practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Vocational diploma (DEP) or equivalent in building mechanics, electromechanics, or a related field.

  • Participation in a preventive maintenance program.

  • Minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience in a similar role.

  • Knowledge of fire protection systems.

  • Basic electrical knowledge.

  • Experience with ventilation systems, including motor and belt replacement.

  • Versatile, team-oriented, and able to work independently.

  • Ability to perform plaster repairs, wallpapering, finish painting, flooring installation, and similar tasks.

  • Strong technical knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, heating, and security systems.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose technical issues.

  • Solid understanding of workplace safety standards and safe use of tools and equipment.

  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong teamwork skills.

  • Attention to detail, reliability, and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as required.

Languages

Fluency in both French and English, spoken and written, is required to serve our international clientele.
