Job description
Manage preventative maintenance, repairs (regular or urgent) for Hotel Residence Inn Laval
Prepare, execute and schedule preventative maintenance and site inspections as they relate to maintenance and repairs
Respond and attend to guest repair requests and document the process through GXP Marriot mobile app (and any other hotel tool or application) and as assigned by the Front Office Supervisor and Management
Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues
Perform preventive maintenance on hotel suites, kitchens and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication
Visually inspect tools, equipment and machinery
Carry equipment (e.g., tools, radio, phone)
Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and all utility shut-offs for buildings
Upkeep all Maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies, as needed
Communicate each day’s activities and problems that occur to the other shifts using approved communication programs and standards
Display basic knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge in the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building
Perform all surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement and the complete and thorough cleanup of the painting or repair area
Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment, plumbing (e.g., plunge toilets and unclog drains), electrical components including lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, replace electrical switches and outlets, and other guestroom items
Program TV's and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties
Perform repairs on interior and exterior landscaping as well as external landscaping sprinklers
Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance and heavier lifting or movement tasks with assistance. Move up and down stairs, service ramps, and/or ladders. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
Oversee Maintenance of the building and provide photos, updates and regular communication to Management and Head Office
Obtain annual supplier contracts and schedule visits (i.e. boiler room maintenance, elevator maintenance, pest control, window cleaning, landscaping, snow removal etc.) for review and comparison to be shared with General Manager for approval
Maintain relationships with all existing hotel maintenance and repair suppliers and build upon new supplier relationships
Assign maintenance and preventative tasks to part-time and/or weekend Maintenance personnel and follow progress of any assignments
Essential job functions:
- Complete all Marriott required brand Trainings in a timely manner.
- Perform regular inspection tours of the establishment in order to identify possible problems and determine the maintenance and repair tasks to be carried out as a priority.
- Flexibility in your role as the role will require update and revision from time to time.
- Carry out the necessary repairs in an adequate and timely manner, so as to limit the negative impact on customers.

When one cannot carry
out a repair by themselves, take the necessary measures to obtain quotes
and ensure the repairs are done in a timely, affordable and efficient
manner.

Notify the director of
any significant problem requiring intervention and propose an action plan.

Supervise the work of
the technical maintenance team member(s).
- Train technical maintenance staff.

Ensure a rapid response
and diligent follow-up of requests for intervention made by customers and the
establishment.

Execute the preventive
maintenance tasks as required.
- Apply the rules in force in terms of health and safety at work.

Collaborate with
establishment management to optimize the customer experience.
Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position
Bilingual in French and English
Computer skills, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Able to work under pressure, make decisions and handle problems effectively
Local travel to complete any local purchases, pick-ups etc. as required
The Maintenance Manager requires a valid driver’s licence
Computer skills required to perform and document all processes and procedures, prepare purchase orders, request approvals, maintain supplier relations, emails and any logs in excel for documentation
May occasionally be called to work on weekends or evenings for any urgent matters and/or to replace a team member as required
Technology savvy for the maintenance and repair of on-site technical equipment and to communicate via required technological applications and programs
The Maintenance Manager must demonstrate punctuality, reliability and responsibility in this role
