Walter Hospitality will soon open its first restaurant in the heart of Outremont, Montreal. Our establishment offers local cuisine inspired by the classic culinary traditions of southern France and northern Italy, while leaving room for innovation. Driven by our selection of the best local and international products, our menu will evolve with the seasons. With its exceptional wine cellar, the restaurant aims to offer its customers a world-class dining experience.

Job description for General Manager

Who you are:

The General Manager provides leadership and support to the front-of-house and kitchen teams. He or she will work with the kitchen and service teams to ensure impeccable and consistent service, particularly in terms of food and beverages. He or she trains and supports his or her teams to create the best customer experience and the best working environment for all employees.

This position is unique in that it requires not only operational management skills, but also the ability to build a solid foundation for our long-term success. With the support of the group's finance, administration, and human resources departments, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to implement systems and policies that will shape the identity of our restaurant.

You will act as a true conductor, harmonizing operational, financial, and human resources management objectives.

What you will do:

  • Cultivate an entrepreneurial and positive culture for all stakeholders to support our values, business objectives, and growth.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the kitchen and beverage program.

Participate in employee development with the Human Resources Manager in areas such as recruitment, training, performance evaluation, compensation, and employee relations. Your approach should reflect our commitment to excellence by attracting and retaining the best talent in the industry.Participate in the management of administrative and financial policies with the Director of Finance and Administration.

This includes establishing accounting procedures, managing inventory, financial performance reporting, and budget tracking. Your expertise will be essential to ensuring the transparency and efficiency of our financial operations. In collaboration with key restaurant staff, you will ensure that these policies support our goal of creating an exceptional and profitable customer experience.

  • Maintain the excellence and cleanliness of the restaurant, ensuring that the appropriate physical inventory is always available to employees and customers and that all staff are properly familiar with the appropriate standards regarding the service cycle.

Ensure that the payroll process is carried out accurately, on time, and in accordance with business/accounting procedures.

  • Comply with workplace safety (CNESST) and health and safety (MAPAQ) standards and regulations.
  • Provide feedback and guidance with excellence and hospitality in mind, ensuring that all team members have opportunities for advancement within the company.
  • Constantly seek internal and external opportunities to develop our growing team.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed and other assigned tasks to support team goals and operational success.

What we need from you:

· Solid experience in managing high-end restaurants, including a proven ability to develop and implement policies and procedures.

· Bachelor's degree or certification in a hospitality-related field or equivalent expertise acquired on the job.

· Relevant training in administration, hospitality management, or finance is a significant asset.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)

· Bilingualism (French and English)
