Acquired by Tidan in 2018, this hotel is located in the heart of the metropolis of Montreal. The Marriott Château Champlain is a 1-minute walk from the metro, accessible through an underground passage adjacent to the Bell Centre and also via 1000 De La Gauchetière. This iconic Montreal hotel, with its 36 floors, 614 rooms, 13 suites, and 25 meeting rooms, was completely renovated in 2021 and can accommodate up to 1000 guests. As a member of a qualified group of people and under the supervision of the Technical Services Manager, the Building Mechanic is responsible for preventive maintenance in 611 hotel rooms, 25 meeting rooms in addition to all our public spaces including service areas. You would be trained to respond to emergencies as a member of our fire brigade. The position involves working with your colleagues to perform maintenance on the building's equipment and installations to keep the premises running smoothly and make guests' stay enjoyable.

The Fixed Machinery Mechanic acts as a technical resource in support of the maintenance department. He also provides support to various departments such as plumbing, refrigeration and electricity, and many other hotel departments.

Rotating shift: 12 hours. - For 14 days, the schedule is from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., and for the next 14 days from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.. These hours are interspersed with days off.

Technical criteria

Requirements: VALID SKILLS CARDS
Essential - MMF Class 4 Certificate of Qualification (MINIMUM) AND refrigeration appliance, Class B

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, he/she is responsible for :

Responsibilities:

  • Operates, checks and when required, performs or assists in the maintenance of the following equipment:
  • Four (4) chillers.
  • Six instant hot water exchangers.
  • Steam network.
  • Steam heating systems for hotel and building rooms, including unit heaters and radiant heating.
  • Air compressors for pneumatic control.
  • Fire systems including booster pumps, control panels, sprinkler systems and fixed booster systems for kitchen hoods and computer rooms.
  • Must know general evacuation procedures.
  • Operates building control systems and modulates as required.
  • You are responsible for all calls from our hotel rooms, which can vary from clogged toilets, burnt-out light bulbs, rooms too hot or cold, etc.
  • Performs chemical readings and tests on various equipment
  • Maintains an adequate inventory of required chemicals, filters and materials.
  • Keeps mechanical rooms clean and tidy.
  • Paint our mechanical rooms.
  • Maintains various equipment maintenance records.
  • Monitors work performed by subcontractors and occasionally assists with certain tasks.
  • Coordinates equipment shutdowns with hotel departments.
  • Set up audio-visual equipment for events scheduled in our banquet or meeting rooms.
  • Develop business relationships with various departments. Ensure the transition to implementation.
  • Actively participate in the implementation of Marriott's best practices and day-to-day principles.

Required Qualifications and Skills:
