Requirements

Role and mission

Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Banquets is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling all banquet and event operations. As the key leader of the department, the Director ensures service efficiency, operational profitability, guest satisfaction, and team engagement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Planning

  • Meet with clients to clearly identify their needs and expectations
  • Design room layouts, service scenarios, and detailed event schedules
  • Coordinate logistics with the culinary, technical, and front office teams
  • Ensure compliance with Hilton standards and all legal requirements (OHS, liquor permits, safety, hygiene and sanitation)

2. Banquet Operations Supervision

  • Lead and supervise teams during set-ups, service, and teardowns
  • Oversee the quality of set-ups: linens, tableware, glassware, equipment and overall ambiance
  • Monitor event flow and intervene promptly when needed
  • Recruit, train and mentor banquet captains, servers, and banquet staff
  • Prepare schedules and allocate resources according to event volume
  • Motivate, coach, and recognize team members to maintain strong engagement and performance

3. Financial and Material Management

  • Develop, manage, and monitor banquet department budgets
  • Control labour, food and beverage costs related to events
  • Optimize the use of resources and maintain strict inventory management
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to increase departmental profitability

4. Business Development

  • Determine pricing and promotional strategies in collaboration with the Sales & Marketing team
  • Actively participate in prospecting and growing the banquet market
  • Ensure optimal use of banquet spaces and maximize revenue potential

5. Guest Service

  • Welcome, guide and support clients throughout the planning process and during events
  • Provide personalized follow-ups to deliver memorable guest experiences
  • Proactively manage feedback and complaints, ensuring the highest levels of satisfaction and loyalty

Working conditions

  • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays

Desired profile

Experience

  • 2 to 5 years in hospitality, food & beverage or event management (supervisory experience is an asset)
  • Degree in Hospitality Management, Restaurant Management, Business Administration, or related field (asset)

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong team management and guest service skills
  • Solid financial and material management abilities
  • Sales, negotiation and marketing expertise
  • Leadership, organizational and decision-making abilities
  • Flexibility and ability to perform under pressure

Knowledge

  • Hospitality management and relevant computer systems
  • Labour standards, OHS, hygiene and sanitation practices
  • Bilingualism (French and English, spoken and written) required; additional languages an asset

  • Professional presentation and attention to detail
