Role and mission

The Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling all activities related to the promotion, sales, and marketing of the hotel’s products and services, with the goal of attracting and retaining clientele. Beyond these strategic responsibilities, the Director actively participates in executive committee meetings and contributes to key decisions as a member of the hotel’s leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales and Marketing Plan:

·        Develop sales and marketing plan including market research, pricing, promotion, advertising, distribution and communication.

·        Define and direct marketing strategies based on guest trends and hotel development plans.

·        Develop and implement effective sales strategies to outperform the competition, continuously adjusting the positioning of the establishment to optimize results and strengthen its competitiveness.

 

 

 

2. Sales Management

·        Manage the implementation of sales department policies, programs and activities, in collaboration with the relevant department managers.

·        Coach, support and mobilize the sales team in achieving objectives.

·        Ensure customer satisfaction before, during and after the stay, and effectively manage complaints when necessary.

·        Analyze sales performance, produce monthly sales reports and prepare the annual budget in collaboration with the relevant departments.

·        Actively participate in forecasting meetings to adapt strategies to market trends.

3. Department Management

·        Ensure the management of the department’s human resources: recruitment, training, scheduling, distribution of tasks, performance evaluation and conflict management.

·        Manage the financial resources (budget preparation and monitoring, cost control) and material resources (inventories, supplies, negotiations with suppliers) allocated to the department.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in sales, ideally in the hospitality industry or a related field.
  • Perfect bilingualism (French and English), fluency in other languages is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong experience in team management and supervision
  • Proficiency in office tools (Word, Excel)
  • Knowledge of specialized hotel software (Opera, Invision, Delphi, etc.) is an asset.
  • Very good knowledge of the tourism industry, hotel products and services as well as the Montreal region and its attractions.

Professional skills

  • Strong leadership and ability to make strategic decisions.
  • Strong sales, negotiation and marketing skills.
  • Strong customer focus and excellent customer service skills.
  • Human resource management skills (team mobilization, recognition, conflict management, etc.).
