Description

The sales director is often the first point of contact a new potential client will have with a business when they are seeking information on the products and services the company provides. The sales director also responds to RFP's and develops sales in new markets.

 

The sales director will take over a mix of existing accounts and new sales ventures. To excel in this role the ideal candidate should be an active listener, have a compelling sales personality, and a hunger to chase and close new business from cold calls and inbound leads.

Sales Director Responsibilities (70%):

  • Manages sales of the company’s services in conjunction with the Sales & Marketing Manager.
  • Ensures consistent, profitable growth in sales revenues through positive planning.
  • Identifies objectives, strategies and action plans to improve short- and long-term sales and earnings.
  • Collaborate with management in establishing and recommending the most realistic sales goals for the company.
  • Collaborate with management to develop sales strategies to improve client reach in all aspects and venues (i.e. corporate/fundraising/graduation/wedding/engagement parties/mitzvahs).
  • Reviews progress of sales (monthly/quarterly/yearly) throughout the company.
  • Coordinates proper company resources to ensure efficient and stable sales results.
  • Performs sales activities on major accounts and negotiates sales price and discounts in consultation with management.
  • Contacting potential clients to establish rapport and arrange meetings.
  • Developing quotes and proposals for clients.
  • Researching organizations and individuals to find new opportunities.
  • Increasing the value of current customers while attracting new ones.
  • Attending conferences, meetings, and industry events.
  • Develop and manage client base and lead generation network including and not limited to identifying, conducting and evaluating new techniques for lead generation and data collection. 
  • Identify new findings and prospects from research.
  • Build alliances and partnerships with other organizations, event planners as well as caterers and suppliers in the industry. 
  • Establish a rapport with each client pre-event, during the event and post event to ensure repeat business


COORDINATION & ADMINISTRATION (20%)

  • Coordinate details of events such as conferences, weddings, birthdays, charity events and business meetings.
  • Calculate budgets and ensure that they are respected.
  • Work in collaboration with the caterer to prepare the menu for the event.
  • Create floor plans for events.
  • Negotiations with various suppliers.
  • Coordinate and monitor the progress (schedule) of the event and ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Schedule staff to work on the event, including security and housekeeping.
  • Build a rapport with Maitre D and staff, from both internal and external sources, to ensure the event runs smoothly
  • Manage email correspondence.
  • This includes the initial communication of payment policies and submitting final invoices to customers and / or suppliers.
  • Maintaining an organizational system for client files and all research pertinent to the above


MARKETING (10%)

  • Co-ordinating marketing campaigns.
  • Co-ordinating the company’s marketing budget.
  • Monitor and report on effectiveness of marketing communications.

 

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in events
  • Bilingual (French – written and oral; English – written and oral)
  • Mastery of MS Office
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Exceptional correspondence writing skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to listen
