Job Summary

The Restaurant PR Manager is responsible for the development and execution of a strategic and integrated plan that is comprised of public relations, social media and marketing communications strategies that support the hotel’s business objectives as well as increase awareness and positive perception of the restaurant areas of the hotel in order to contribute to driving traffic and revenues. This person must also be physically present in the restaurant areas throughout the day. He/She engages actively with guests during the various services (breakfast, lunch and dinner) in order to capture their needs, expectations and comments. He/She will also handle any guest complaints brought to their attention in a positive manner.

Core responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan including PR, social media and other marketing communications channels and partnerships to support the business objectives of the restaurant department;
  • Deploy a creative content strategy across multiple owned and earned channels;
  • Image and reputation management;
  • Work closely with other operational departments on marketing and promotions;
  • Is proactive and creative in identifying and developing integrated PR, Social Media and content programs which capitalize on unique and newsworthy stories as well as leveraging unexpected opportunities as they arise;
  • Oversees the restaurant’s digital content strategy and manages all social media channels, creating relevant and engaging content and increasing follower engagement;
  • Ensures the hotel’s web and App presence is aligned with the Hotel’s positioning and business objectives and where possible links to other Four Seasons content channels;
  • Plays a key role in reputation management; acts as a strategic communications advisor to management by keeping track of public attitudes, flagging possible consequences of decisions, developing key messages and managing issues and crisis communications. The role also involves the management or oversight of online reviews responses;
  • Understands the Hotel’s marketplace; well-informed of market trends, including evaluating the competition’s marketing communications activity. Monitors own media coverage and competitor’s coverage, social media of comp set as well as online reviews for deeper market insight;
  • Works closely with the sales & marketing and Spa teams to develop promotional and marketing activities and calendars to feed relevant owned channels so as to stimulate revenue opportunities. Able to forge alliances and maintain positive cooperative working relationship with other departments;
  • Update and publish menus according to changes and product availability;
  • Leverage social media channels to amplify key messages and activities, elevating the importance of search as well as strategic and creative communication;
  • Illustrate the power and resulting impact of a strategic social presence through effective monitoring and evaluation tools;
  • Establish a rapport with frequent visitors, ensuring that Restaurant and Reservations staff are well informed of guests’ preferences;
  • Assess guest needs by adding personal recommendations and touches;
  • Resolve guest complaints with the highest level of professionalism in compliance with Four Seasons standards;
  • Generate periodical reports of guest reviews for different platforms available;
  • Have a physical presence in the restaurant areas on a daily basis in order to engage with guests and better gauge their levels of satisfaction and their perceptions;
  • Participate in Lobby Lizard shifts;
  • Performs any additional tasks requested by management;
Requirements

Desired Skills and Experience

  • A college or university degree in journalism or communications or equivalent experience in public relations, journalism and/or marketing communications and all other related fields;
  • Experience in restaurants, catering, culinary arts, food blogs or any other related field is a plus;
  • Strong and effective interpersonal skills;
  • Have an excellent presentation and elocution, in French and English, and interpersonal skills to meet the expectations of a high-end clientele;
  • Maintain a professional appearance and behave in a mature manner with integrity at all times;
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and written), a strong sense of quality and a creative mind set;
  • A self-starter that can multi-task and prioritise;  
  • Proficiency in leveraging social media networks and related monitoring tools
  • Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Adobe, and Lotus Notes;
