49th Parallel is opening its first Café outside of BC in Montreal! Based in Vancouver, 49th Parallel strives to source and roast exceptional coffee, in a responsible and sustainable manner. We are a technologically advanced roastery with a scientific yet artisanal approach. For our new store opening this summer in Old Montreal, we are looking for:
PASTRY CHEF / BAKER
RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DESCRIPTION:
Opening and closing the kitchen
Preparing doughs, viennoiseries, scones, fillings, glazes and garnishes as per recipes
Glazing and decorating donuts
Collaborating with head chef on establishing/creating Montreal specific menu items
Operating assorted kitchen appliances
Cleaning and maintaining work area and kitchen surfaces
Adhering to all safety and sanitation guidelines
Assisting with inventory and ordering
Assist the Head chef
Current COVID-19 policy:
• controlled in-store capacity
• close adhesion to all government guidelines
• plexi-glass barriers at register & hand-off areas
• frequent sanitization of high touch areas
• masks provided
• no guest seating

Relevant work experience in a kitchen environment
Excellent communication skills
Pastry and local fine produce knowledge and interest
Ready, able and willing to start work very early in the morning (before the opening of the metro)
