Job description

The Hilton Garden Inn Montreal Downtown is currently seeking a candidate for the position of full time Night Auditor. Reporting to the Front Office Manager, the incumbent is responsible for welcoming, registering, and facilitating departures for guests. They will verify daily transactions, balance accounts, deposits, and cash registers, ensuring the delivery of high-level customer service in line with the chain and company standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify transactions from each receptionist during the day and evening shifts.
  • Process credit card transactions.
  • Invoice room rates and taxes on each customer bill.
  • Finalize transactions completed during the day.
  • Create and/or print and submit required reports.
  • Verify, balance, and review room availability, contributing to maximizing hotel revenue.
  • Responsible for hotel and guest security during the night.

In addition to these responsibilities, the Night Auditor will perform tasks outlined in the front desk agent job description, including:

  • Register guests upon arrival and efficiently handle their departures.
  • Properly assign rooms (rates, special requests, etc.).
  • Daily awareness of hotel and regional groups and events.
  • Knowledge of current special rates and their applications.
  • Handle reservations for upcoming customer stays and register walk-in guests.
  • Record, correct, or adjust customer charges as needed.
  • Know cashier procedures and be responsible for any transactions.
  • Work as a team to ensure that all daily tasks are completed.
  • Exchange information regarding unit status, VIPs, priorities, early or extended departures with the housekeeping department.
  • Communicate relevant information to the team, supervisor, and director verbally and through the logbook.
  • Use telephone systems: transfer calls, manage voicemails, take messages as needed.
  • Confirm, register, and execute wake-up calls.
  • Responsible for maintaining the key security system.
  • Handle emergency procedures regarding fire alarms and medical services.
  • Answer guest questions about local facilities and services and assist with reservations as needed.
  • Perform any other related tasks associated with the position.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of experience in a similar position
  • Bilingualism (French and English)
  • Strong sense of customer service and meticulous attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Hilton computer systems/platforms is an asset
  • Autonomous and capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Team player
  • Sales skills and proficiency in verbal communication
  • Knowledge of the region and tourist points of interest
  • Good stress tolerance and decision-making ability

*The night auditor may be called upon to work day or evening shifts as a front desk agent.
