Description

§  Assist the Maintenance Director in maintaining the physical building structure so that it meets the expectations of our stakeholders. 

§  Plan and coordinate daily, weekly and monthly projects within the department.

§  Be conversant with all maintenance contracts within the hotel and monitor productivity and quality of work performed.

§  Ensure that public areas and back-of-the-house areas are well maintained.

§  Ensure daily readings of the HVAC equipment and pool chemical balances are done.

§  Be fully conversant with Holiday Inn brand standards as it relates to life safety for our guests and employees.

§  Be fully conversant with Holiday Inn Montreal Downtown standards as outlined in the standards operational manual.

§  Ensure this is an energy conservation plan within the hotel on an on-going basis.

§  Promote and participate in occupational health and safety initiatives.

§  Hire and train direct reports.

§  Provide leadership and co-ordinate the operation of the Maintenance and Pool area, while continually seeking ways to enhance the department’s operation.

§  Ensure the effective utilization and productivity of all employees;

§  Ordering and Purchasing goods, supplies or equipment in accordance with Maintenance Standards Manual.

§  Actively participate in Management Team meetings or other required meetings.

§  Represent hotel to provide a positive image.

§  Report lost and found items to the Executive Housekeeper or Housekeeping Supervisors.

§  Manager on Duty Shifts.

§  Any other duties or projects as assigned by the General Manager.

§  Take and record readings on gauges and meters daily, weekly, monthly, and report any erratic behavior to delegated management

§  Perform all maintenance request forms as received from other departments to a standard set by the Maintenance Director.

§  Cleaning of the pool, spa and the surrounding equipment

§  Assist the Maintenance Director in any major repairs.

§  Responsible for all tools and equipment issued throughout shift

§  Be congenial in guest relations

§  Be hygienic and neat in appearance and request any additional clothing or protective apparel when assigned difficult or dangerous tasks

§  Advise Maintenance Director of all specialized or difficult work in order to allow for preparation of the project

§  Work closely with the Maintenance Director to conserve energy

§  Report to and discuss with the Maintenance Director any new ideas and/or suggestions that might be of financial savings and/or guest satisfaction

§  Any other projects as requested by the Maintenance Director.

Requirements

§  Excellent knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC plumbing, fire/life/safety systems, pool operations, carpentry, masonry, all wall covering systems, flooring (including carpet, tile, wood and finishes)

§  General knowledge of building construction and related safety codes.

§  Knowledge of fire regulations – Régie du bâtiment du Québec

§  Strong organisational skills and prioritising skills.

§  First aid/CPR trained.

§  Organized and results-oriented, with the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure, in a fast-paced changing environment.

§  Very strong leadership skills.

§  Self-starter.  Able to make decisions and allow employees to be empowered to provide excellent services.

§  Strong team player.  Able to work closely with peers and keep employees motivated.

§  Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

§  Minimum 5 years experience in hotel operations or a related field would be an asset.

§  Recognized schooling an asset.
