Host/Hostess, MARCUS Restaurant & Lounge
Department: MARCUS Restaurant & Lounge
Reports to: Assistant Food and Beverage Managers
Status: Full-Time
Hourly Rate: $25.51

Job Summary
The Host/ess is the guest’s first impression of the restaurant. The Host/ess greets guests promptly, courteously, graciously with eye contact, and a smile. Utilizing Open Table, the Host/ess takes reservations, reviews the daily reservation book and has the ability to seat guests without reservations. The Host/ess has a complete working knowledge of the menus, menu ingredients and what is available/unavailable for that day. A principle role within the restaurant, the Host/ess is familiar with server stations, their daily assignments, their personal timing patterns and their maximum workload capacity. The Host/ess is also familiar with frequent guests and knows their names and preferences. Flexible schedule is required and includes weekends and holidays.
Core Responsibilities
Greet and seat guests while coordinating guest reservations and responding to inquiries in an efficient, courteous and professional manner to achieve maximum customer satisfaction while complying with all Four Seasons' policies;
Seat guests promptly at a table pre-set for the number in the party and according to guest preference;
Set up host/hostess stand, review guest reservation book, and make recommendations as to the set-up of the room, maintain a station chart and cover count for the restaurant and the bar while recognizing the maximum workload capacity of each server in order to meet Four Seasons Service standards;
Answer telephones according to Four Seasons standards and take guest reservations or provide information regarding the restaurant or any other hotel service;
Anticipate the needs of guests, respond accordingly to guest inquiries or problems, and recognize regular guests by name and utilize the guest's name consistently;
Inspect and maintain daily menus to ensure quality, condition and appearance while developing a complete working knowledge of all menu items and daily specials;
Work closely with the rooms department to identify in-house guests dinning in our venues;
Reports all incidents or unusual situations to the supervisor as quickly as possible;
Perform any other related tasks.
Requirements
Desired Qualifications and Skills
A flexible schedule with the ability to work all shifts: days, nights, weekends and holidays;
Excellent customer service skills with great enthusiasm, superior interpersonal skills, result oriented and highly self-motivated;
Good understanding of F&B operation;
High level of professionalism and integrity while maintaining the confidentiality of the hotel;
Working knowledge of MS systems; Word and Excel;
High attention to detail, strong organization skills, result orientation and the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment;
A positive attitude and a can-do approach to any task;
Previous high end restaurant and bar host/hostess experience is a plus;
Knowledge or the ability to operate computer equipment and experience with using Open Table is an asset;
Must be able to stand for an 8-hour shift;
Require reading, writing and oral proficiency in the French and English languages;
