Job Summary 
 
This role reports to the Rooms Director, and will be responsible for leading the overall operations and performance of the spa for the hotel; providing cutting edge advice and making strategic and operational decisions for the department with regards to treatments and philosophies. 

Core Responsibilities 

  • Oversees all aspects of the department including interviewing and training staff, monitoring the facilities with the assistance of Engineering and Housekeeping and coordinating daily schedules for the spa operational and therapist teams; 

  • Assists in creating spa menus, seasonal treatments and a tasteful environment. Successful candidates will possess a strong awareness of current market trends and be able to sell spa retail in a creative and successful manner; 

  • Duties include but are not limited to talent leadership and development, being visible in the operation and providing outstanding guest service and satisfaction, treatment scheduling,  monitoring treatment room utilization, monitoring and ordering operational supplies, communicating and prioritizing facility repairs with the Engineering team, ensuring the spa team is engaged, effectively communicating resort and corporate initiatives to the spa team; 

  • Advocates on behalf of the Spa Department while building and maintaining strong working relationships with the other hotel department leadership teams; 

  • Extensive experience handling guest complaints including follow-up with the guest to ensure that the problem was resolved to their satisfaction. The Spa Director should also feel confident in coaching the involved staff to avoid future lapses in service; 

  • In this role, the Director of Spa must have proficiency in revenue generation and enhancement, budgeting, conducting yield and forecast meetings for spa occupancy and rate, promotional plans and projects; 

  • The successful candidate will possess a marketing skill set that includes a solid understanding of social media and the generation of seasonally appropriate content to drive business in both peak and low seasons. Heavily involved in creating a strong marketing brand and sales techniques that build and drive both hotel guest capture as well as local business while creating, developing and implementing products and services which are innovative and creative in line with marketing and sales strategy;  

  • Participate in Lobby Lizard shifts; 

  • Execute any other designated task. 

Requirements

Desired Qualifications and Skills 

  • Ability to communicate fluently in English and French, both orally and in writing; 

  • Solid knowledge of luxury Spa Management in a city Hotel, wellness and holistic modalities, and thorough knowledge of service standards, application of spa staffing models 

  • Ability to create and implement spa service menus and effective retail management and have creativity and strong marketing, communication and holistic skills; 

  • Strong understanding and experience of the financial budgeting and forecasting process for a spa business; 

  • Have a good resistance to stress and manage it positively and effectively; 

  • Be comfortable in a fast-paced environment; 

  • Excellent team management skills are required to engage and motivate a diverse and dynamic team; 

  • Demonstrate a very good team spirit to  

  • Interest and ability to provide outstanding service to our internal, external customers and our suppliers; 

  • Have an excellent presentation and elocution, in French and English, and interpersonal skills to meet the expectations of a high-end clientele; 

  • Maintain a professional appearance and behave in a mature manner and with integrity at all times, including outside the hotel while on business; 

  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a dynamic environment; 

  • Be organized, meticulous and resourceful; 

  • Demonstrate creativity and initiative; 

  • Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes; 

  • 3 to 4 years’ experience in a city Hotel with diversity of Spa, Fitness and Wellness related management positions; 

  • College diploma preferably specializing in Business Management is encouraged, however, not essential if applicants have previous relevant work experience as therapist or esthetician.
