Reopening a new hotel is not for the faint-hearted, but it is an amazing opportunity to create something special and lasting. The right candidate is organized, detail-oriented and a team builder. He has a proven experience in sales, he knows how to motivate a sales and marketing team in order to win in the very competitive Montreal market. The DOSM must be an organized and resourceful person, willing to roll up their sleeves and with the operational experience necessary to manage the hotel on a day-to-day basis. We are looking for a person with strong human contact, a leader and team player ready to supervise and lead his team in order to obtain exceptional results. If so, this role could be for you! As the "face" of the hotel, you'll network with city officials and local business leaders, raising awareness and developing community relationships.
The successful candidate is responsible for all aspects of business strategy in conjunction with the general manager. This role will oversee the day-to-day operations of the sales division, including but not limited to direct sales efforts, strategic oversight, sales administration, and ongoing training. He is responsible for developing sales forecasts for the annual budget.
This role is responsible for leading all aspects of sales, revenue, conference services, marketing and public relations and will be responsible for working with departments to develop and implement strategies to maximize sales, revenue, destination and awareness of products in all segments. Our ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of all market segments with a proven track record of creating and driving tactics to drive results.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Analyze hotel capabilities and identify marketing and public relations actions needed to attract complementary business sources.
Develop and implement the annual marketing plan.
The ability to keep abreast of market trends and react as needed.
Develop special promotional programs to drive revenue.
Manage the hotel's use of emerging social media tools (i.e. Twitter, blogs, Facebook branding, LinkedIn) and online reviews (i.e. Trip Advisor).
Participate in Marriott training and ensure brand standards are maintained.
Make sure all ads convey the desired image and message.
Monitor all spend within advertising budget.
Work to ensure that the establishment and the brand receive maximum exposure in the appropriate media.
Report to the General Manager any significant activity in which the hotel may wish to become involved.
Develop the advertising and commercial promotion budget in line with the annual marketing plan.
Prepare, monitor and control the annual advertising and trade promotion budget.
Build strong relationships with colleagues
Think creatively and practically to develop and implement strategies
Possess strong communication skills to drive high-level performance from associates
Always be informed of the latest trends in the search marketing and hotel marketing industry
Monitor and analyze social media performance
Vigilant of the actions of our competitors and anticipating our actions
SPECIFIC TASKS:
Achieve monthly revenue targets and increase the hotel's STR market share.
Proactively sell the hotel through face-to-face client meetings, teleprospecting, etc.
Review and monitor competing hotels to make recommendations on product and service improvements to remain competitive
Identify available business sources for the hotel and prioritize marketing opportunities in soliciting this business.
Implement activities that have a positive impact on the financial performance of the hotel
Monitor and identify current and future business trends to ensure profitable sales in times of low and high demand.
Manage the hotel's performance management program, including the transition to a more robust dynamic pricing model.
Assess potential business opportunities for the hotel and coordinate as necessary with the General Manager and Revenue Manager.
Full understanding of the impact of Food + Beverage on overall hotel performance
Establishes relationships and contacts for economic and relational purposes.
Demonstrates a community spirit by getting involved in local and regional organizations.
Recruit, select and familiarize marketing department personnel with the hotel and its functions.
Train and guide staff in his/her department in the performance of their duties regarding specific job responsibilities, performance techniques, reporting procedures, etc.
Conduct performance reviews and follow up with marketing department staff.

QUALIFICATIONS + SKILLS:
Bachelor's degree in hotel management, travel/tourism, sales/marketing or similar preferred
5 years of experience in a similar position, minimum 2 years in a luxury property
Minimum 2 years of managing a team of managers
Experience in hotel and brand marketing
