Job description

Nature of the Position

Under the supervision of the Banquet Director, the Banquet Maître d’Hôtel is responsible for the smooth operational flow of the Banquets department, ensuring the success of events, client satisfaction, and the well-being of the department’s personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, supervise, and coordinate the human and material resources necessary for the execution of banquet events.
  • Maintain a high level of service quality and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Oversee and train staff to perform tasks according to the establishment’s standards.
  • Ensure effective communication within the department and with other hotel departments.
  • Manage and control costs related to department operations.
  • Perform any supportive or related tasks as requested by management.

Working Hours

  • Flexible, based on demand (days, evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays).
  • Ability to work long hours.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary to be discussed based on experience.
  • Group insurance with at least 50% covered by the company.
  • $100 transportation allowance (with receipt).
  • $50 reimbursement allowance for cellphone expenses (with receipt).
  • 3 weeks of vacation per year and 4 weeks after 5 years.

Requirements

Essential Skills and Attitudes

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a management position in hospitality and/or food service.
  • Degree in hospitality or food service from a recognized institution.
  • Ability to manage experienced and unionized staff.
  • Strong stress management skills.
  • Effective time and priority management.
  • Responsible, reliable, and trustworthy.
  • Proactive and shows initiative.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Consistency and punctuality.
  • Physically fit and able to lift loads of at least 22 kg.
  • Quick execution and accuracy.
